It was revealed durring the reboot of Cartoon-Planet that the reason Brak is mentally disabled is because of an injury he recieved in the classic Spaceghost cartoon.
So it becomes kind of tragic when you think about it. Because he was a genius in that show… an EVIL genius. So you feel bad for Brak because he went from being super-smart to super-dumb, but at the same time you’d never acctually hope for him to get better. As he was one of Spaceghosts most formidable foes.

The fact the original show is taken into account in the crazier meaner spinoffs as contradicting as it is makes my brain boil into trying to find a way to make it work. Brak show (dumb) -> Space Ghost (smart) -> Space Ghost Coast to Coast (dumb). HOW
Hey I know this is an old comment but I have an answer. From the best I can figure the Brak show is not Brak’s actual childhood but a poket timeline. According to an in charter interview about show lore during a Brak Show DVD commentary, Brak says that the Brak Show doesn’t retcon anything in the previous Space Ghost, he still used to be evil, and it’s implied the brak show is Brak and Zorak getting a second chance at highschool through time travel. It should be noted in the original Space Ghost series Space Ghost had a time machine.
It is stated in the same commentary interview that the planet everyone is on in the Brak Show isn’t the planet where Brak was born and there’s more of his species on his home planet and his family only moved there when his mom married his dad.
